Management and Directors
Albrecht Schneider – Executive Chairman and Director
Dr. Schneider is a geologist with more than 25 years of field management
and project generation in South America. He is currently the President
of SBX Consultores, a geological consulting firm in Santiago, Chile. Dr.
Schneider has held senior management positions with several public
companies including TVX Gold Inc. and generated the world-class Volcan
gold discovery in Chile for and was a co-founder of Andina Minerals. He
has also acted as a Chilean representative for TVX Normandy Americas,
Newmont Mining Corporation, and Kinross and has acted as an
international consultant for Antofogosta PLC and Gold Fields. Dr.
Schneider received a Ph.D (Geology) from Imperial College, University of
London in 1985.
Carl Hansen – President and Chief Executive Officer and
Director
Mr. Hansen is a geologist with over 20 years of experience in the
exploration and mining industry. He was the co-founder of Andina
Minerals and its President and Chief Executive Officer until January
2009. He has held senior head office positions with TVX Gold Inc. and
Kinross, as well as operational positions with Inco Limited (now CVRD
Inco Limited). Mr. Hansen is a director of Colombia Crest Gold Corp.
and Metallum Resources Inc. Mr. Hansen received a Geological Technician
diploma from Cambrian College in 1983 and an Honours Bachelor of Science
degree from Laurentian University in 1988.
Thomas Pladsen – Chief Financial Officer and Secretary
Mr. Pladsen has over 20 years experience in the exploration and mining industry. Mr. Pladsen, who received his Chartered Accountant designation with KPMG LLP in Toronto in the mid 1980’s, has since held various financial positions with TSX listed, TSXV listed and private mining and technology companies. He has served as Chief Executive Officer and Chief Financial Officer of Katanga Mining Limited, Chief Financial Officer of Andina Minerals and Chief Financial Officer of Merc International Minerals Inc. Mr. Pladsen has also consulted for a number of TSXV listed junior mining companies. Mr. Pladsen is a director of Anaconda Mining Inc., Merc International Minerals Inc., Northfield Capital Corporation, White Pine Resources Inc., EMP Mining Ventures Inc. and Colombia Crest Gold Corp.
Paul Champagne – Director
Mr. Champagne has been the president of Champco Capital Corp., a private
investment company, for over 20 years. He has previously been a director
of Baffinland Iron Mines Corporation and CMQ Resources Inc.
Scott Caldwell - Director
Mr. Caldwell is currently President and Chief Executive Officer of Allied Nevada
Gold Corp. (“Allied Nevada”) and has nearly thirty years of experience building
and operating gold and base metal mines worldwide. While under Mr. Caldwell’s
tenure, Allied Nevada’s Hycroft gold mine was built and achieved commercial
production in 2009. Presently, the Hycroft heap leach mine is undergoing
significant expansion. From 2003 through 2006, while serving as the Chief
Operating Officer of Kinross Gold Corporation, Mr. Caldwell’s responsibilities
included oversight of the La Coipa and Maricunga gold mine operations located 20
kilometres and 50 kilometres, respectively, from Atacama Pacific’s 100%-owned
Cerro Maricunga Gold Project. Previous to his involvement with Kinross, Mr.
Caldwell was Vice President, Operations for Echo Bay Mines and prior to that was
Vice President, Operations for Compania Minera Dona Lines de Collahuasi S.A.
(Chile) and was Senior Mines Manager of PT Freeport Indonesia Company.
Antonio Ortuzar Jr. - Director
Mr. Ortuzar has been a lawyer and International Partner with Cruzat,
Ortuzar Y Mackenna Limitada – Baker & McKenzie in Chile from April 1990
until the present. With a specialization in the mining sector, he has
extensive experience in all aspects of international joint ventures,
project financing, foreign investments, and corporate and commercial
arrangements. Mr. Ortuzar has been a guest lecturer in Economic Law at
the Finis Terrae University in Santiago and previously attended
Universidad Gabriela Mistral, also in Santiago. He is a Licensee in
Juridical and Social Sciences from the South Western Legal Foundation,
Dallas, Texas. |
